Nikki Carroll is currently a senior financial strategy analyst at Newark Public Schools. In this role, Nikki is works with the district leadership team on many issues affecting the $1 billion budget. Her work informs decisions from teacher needs in a classroom to the payout of union contracts. Prior to working in education, Nikki Carroll was an associate in the debt portfolio management group at Freddie Mac where she performed analytics for their $800 billion debt portfolio. During her time at Freddie Mac, she was awarded the Rising Leaders Team Player award for her roles leading and working on teams for consulting engagements with Northern Virginia Family Services and Carpenter’s Shelter. Nikki came to New York City from Maryland to obtain an MBA while exploring the field of education. During the summer of 2012, she divided her time doing work with the digital learning director and the chief external officer. She evaluated digital learning software, designed a strategy for digital learning implementation with a middle school team, and worked on board governance projects for the chief external officer. Nikki has a passion for creating stories from data and gathering like minds to share ideas and move towards a goal. Her experience in education has sparked an interest in community development in cities, and specifically how public administrators and city government work towards common development goals. When not working, Nikki enjoys collecting passport stamps and watching sports. You can find her stressed out on Sundays rooting for the Dallas Cowboys.
